October Fall Tea
On October 1, 2017, BMC celebrated its 87th anniversary with its annual fundraiser and Tea. Eighty-five members and their guests were addressed by keynote speaker Ruby Pleasure, a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (teacher for 40 years) and a recent retiree of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her student, baritone Jihao Tian, entertained us with songs by Vaughn Williams, E.W. Korngold and select Chinese folk songs. Naomi Sanchez, our representative from the National Foundation of Music Clubs, also joined us. This year we honored the teachers of the winning students from the recent 2016-2017 competition season. We want to thank Jonathan Koh, John McCarthy, Zhao Wei and Dr. William Wellborn, for their passion and dedication to the development of young musicians and for your support of BMC.
The event took place at the Burlingame Woman’s Club which was transformed into a beautiful English tea setting, with tables set in teal and gold, dotted with rose bouquets (see photos below). A lovely tea was served alongside a hugely successful Silent Auction. It was a special afternoon enjoyed by all.
Of course, this event could not have been possible without the help of our donors.
